YouTube is the most popular video platform and some recognizing it as a video search engine. Recently there has been a challenge that YouTube Android users are facing which is they see an error message “There was a problem with the server [400]”.

This article will explain all the known working ways you can fix YouTube error 400 in case you are facing this problem on your Android device.

Check Network Settings

Before you start wondering why this error is popping up. You need to check whether you have access to the internet or not. You can test by visiting another website to see if indeed your internet connection is working perfectly.

In some cases, you may have problem with your connection where you can access other websites except YouTube. Follow the steps below to reset your network settings.

  1. Open your phone Settings.
  2. Go to SIM card and mobile network.
  3. Tap on your mobile data sim.
  4. Tap on Access Point Names (APN).
  5. Tap on the three dots located at the top right corner and select Reset to default.
  6. Restart your phone and try.

Also, if you are using on Wi-Fi, make sure your router or Wi-Fi provider is connected to the internet.

Check if you have mobile data manager installed. Open it and give YouTube access if it has a denied access to the internet.

Clearing YouTube App Data and Cache

In some cases, you need to clear YouTube cache and data stored. This will reset the app and make it as newly installed app from Play Store.

NB: Doing this will clear all your internal YouTube downloads. Meaning all the videos you have downloaded on YouTube will be cleared as well, you need to sign in again and redownload.

  1. Open your phone Settings.
  2. Go to App Management.
  3. Tap on App Settings.
  4. Search and look for YouTube and tap on it.
  5. Tap on Storage & cache.
  6. Tap on clear storage located at the bottom of your screen. This will clear all user data and cached data from your device.
  7. A prompt will appear telling you your action will permanently delete your data on the YouTube app. Just click OK.
  8. Open your YouTube App then try again.

Uninstall YouTube Recent Update

In some cases, updating an app may cause some connection problems. If you encountered this YouTube error 400, try to uninstall the update to downgrade your YouTube to the previous version.

To Uninstall Updates, follow the steps below.

  1. Open your phone Settings.
  2. Go to App Management.
  3. Tap on App Settings.
  4. Search and look for YouTube and tap on it.
  5. Tap on the three vertically arranged dots located at the top right corner.
  6. Tap on Uninstall updates.
  7. Go to Youtube and try to see if you can access it.
