Back To The Future Shoes

Back To The Future Shoes

You felt the huge influence and joy of time travel after watching the first Back to the Future movie. We now have the opportunity to have this experience in real life! Nike has been producing Marty McFly shoes for decades, and they’ve created various versions inspired by the original sneakers from the movie series.

About Back To The Future Shoes

Back to the Future shoes were the first pair of shoes ever made that could both lace and light up. They were created specifically for the movie, in which Marty, a teenager, goes to 2015 using a time machine invented by a scientist.

According to the BBC, the original pair worn by Michael J. Fox in the movie in 1989 sold for $92,100 in the summer of 2018, with the revenues going to Michael J. Fox’s Parkinson’s disease foundation.

Michael J. Fox, who played Marty Mcfly in the third Back to the Future movie, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, not long after the film was released. He established the foundation that bears his name, and the proceeds are used to further research in the hopes of finding a cure, as well as to assist in the treatment of people who are in need.

Over the few years, Nike has released a few number of versions Back to the Future shoes and we’ll look at the history of this great collection today. Nike first released the MAG replica shoes of the original model in 2011.

The original shoes that we saw in the movie were first seen in Kanye West’s “Good Morning” music video, where they were worn by an animated bear.

In 2008, Kobe Bryant wore the “McFly” Hyperdunks in a LA venue in 2008, which sparked an idea for Nike, but the new version of the sneaker didn’t come out until 2011.

Nike Mag 2016 version

This was a new and improved “Back to the Future” MAG which Nike produced only 89 pairs. They introduced Adaptive Fit technology, which is a fancy way of saying “Power laces.”

This works by sensing the movement of the person wearing them and releasing or tightening the laces accordingly.

Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 2016-2019

This version was also released in 2016, and due to its growing popularity and more affordable price range, a sequel was produced in 2019.

Adapt BB “Nike Mag”

Laceless sneakers, Adapt BB “Nike Mag” was Nike idea of trying to bring a more accessible version of the “Back to the Future” series’ original. They changed the design and made it customisable with the Adapt BB by using built-in buttons and an app.
